Alt Sührkow

Old Sührkow is a municipality in the southeast of the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Mecklenburg Switzerland domiciled in the not office belonging Teterow city.

Geography

The community of Old Sührkow in the Mecklenburg Switzerland near the town Teterow and in the geographic center of the state has large height differences in soil relief for Mecklenburg conditions. While the West of the municipality at the outflow of the lake Teterower located a few meters towards Peene above sea level, reached the main terminal moraine in the east in Hardt mountain 122 m above sea level. Old Sührkow located in the Natural Park Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow and on the east by the county of Mecklenburg Lake District.

  • Old Sührkow, first mentioned in 1297 as a possession of a knight Friedrich von Moltke
  • Bukow on Teterower See: here peat was cut, which was burned in a brick factory
  • High Mistorf with the coming of the 13th century village church
  • New Sührkow 1770 mentioned with scattered farms
  • Pohnstorf, 1810 gravel was mined here and manufactured cement

History

1297 appeared on Sührkow in a document as Scurekendorp. In the area around the mountain Hardt early 18th century were some glassworks, the charcoal needed for this was obtained from the then large oak forests. The community with its districts is now dominated by agriculture and tourism.

  • Gothic village church in High Mistorf from brick on field stone base; Choir from the 13th century with kuppligem ribbed vault, the Arc de Triomphe to the flat-roofed nave from the 14th century and the west tower in the width of the ship with bell storey from the 15th century and hipped roof.
  • Manor House in Old Sührkow, klassistischer, single-story stucco building from the first half of the 19th century with central projection and small tower.

Transport links

The municipality is situated on the road connecting Teterow after Neukalen. From Teterow seven kilometers away, there are federal roads in all directions. The railway station in the district of High Mistorf is on the railway line Güstrow Neubrandenburg and was decommissioned in 2003.
