Altes Brauhaus (Rothenburg ob der Tauber)

The Old Brewery House is a historic building in the center of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

History

1698 built by the municipal authorities of the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber and opened in 1699 as a " stately brewery ", it was in 1724 appointed a "free imperial city brewery ". It is centrally located within the historic city walls of Rothenburg, surrounded by city gardens and half-timbered houses, about three minutes walk from Rothenburg's market square. On August 13, 1804 Johann Georg Roth auctioned the " brewery " and so it was the first time in private hands. Since that time, the " Brauhaus " has changed hands several times until 1905, brewmaster Josef Beugler, great-grandfather of the current owners, owners of the " Brauhaus " was.

1920, the brewing operation was transferred to the built by Hans Hopf Dampfbrauerei before Klingentor. The " Brauhaus Rothenburg " in the Wenggasse was called as a result of the new acquisition for malting and henceforth " Altes Brauhaus ".
