Altier

Altier is a commune in the Lozère department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It is located at about 650 meters above sea level and has 207 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

It is in the southern Massif Central in the Cevennes region; the highest mountain of the Cevennes, Mont Lozère, is located about 20 km southwest of the community.

Altier is located in the valley of the same river Altier, which flows from the Mont Lozère over Lac de Villefort in the Chassezac and further into the Ardèche.
