Altjeßnitz is a district of the city Raguhn - Jeßnitz in the district of Anhalt -Bitterfeld, located in the southeast of the state of Saxony -Anhalt. Altjeßnitz is primarily known for its baroque maze.

Geography

Altjeßnitz lies in the floodplain on the eastern bank of the Mulde, 10 km north of Bitterfeld- Wolfen and 20 km south of Dessau.

History

Altjeßnitz belonged until 1815 to the Saxon Office Bitterfeld and came up with this as a result of the Congress of Vienna to Prussia, where it belonged to the district of Bitterfeld. Altjeßnitz towered like a spur in Anhaltisches area and was surrounded in three directions by this. Just to the east was land connection to one's own territory .. Flag

Culture and sights

Other attractions in the village include the originating already from the time of the Romanesque village church Altjeßnitz.

Furthermore, worth seeing is the strong castle remodeled Altjeßnitz. This was built in 1699. A fire in 1946 destroyed large parts of the plant. In April 1975, followed by demolition work. Parts, however, were significantly changed, rebuilt.
