Altos de Chavon ( Amphitheatre)

Altos de Chavon is a replica of a village in the 16th century style and a tourist attraction in the province of La Romana in the Dominican Republic.

Conceived the village by two employees of Paramount Pictures: the film architect Roberto Copa and Charles Bluhdorn. Construction began in 1976, when they blew up a free way for a road and a bridge over the Rio Chavón and so were quantities of stones to hand. The village was completed in the early 1980s. The Church of St. Stanislaus is frequently booked for weddings.

In Amphitheather in the Roman style with 5000 seats were, inter alia, Pet Shop Boys, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli and Julio Iglesias. An Archaeological Museum (Museo Regional Archaeological ) shows findings pre - Columbian cultures of the area.
