Alumel

Alumel ® is a magnetic nickel-based alloy consisting of 95 % nickel, 2% manganese, 2% aluminum and 1% silicon.

Its specific resistance is 0.294 μΩm and has a melting point of 1,399 ° C

Alumel is often used in a chromel alumel thermocouple connection as a pair of type K for temperature measurement.

For measuring the temperature of the two connected conductor generates an electric voltage when a temperature differential along the conductors due to the Seebeck effect, on the free ends. From this, the temperature can be determined due to the physical properties.
