Alun Wyn Jones

Alun Wyn Jones ( born September 19, 1985 in Swansea ) is a Welsh rugby union player. He plays as a second row forward for the Welsh national team and the Ospreys.

Jones was part of the U21 squad who could reach the 2005 Grand Slam this age group. He was simultaneously the best rookie in the Welsh Premier Division. He subsequently moved to the regional selection Ospreys. In his first season he was put equal to 15 times. His performance in 2006 led to his international debut against Argentina.

With the Six Nations 2007, he was already in all games to the root of the squad. He was consequently nominated for the 2007 World Cup, where he was employed in four of five games. There he succeeded in doing two tests, one each against Canada and Japan.

With the Six Nations 2008 Jones succeeded with the Welsh national team winning the Grand Slam. He could contribute in three games on this success, the other two games he missed due to injury. Warren Gatland coach nominated him for the Six Nations 2009, where he stood in all games in the starting lineup for the first time and ran aground against Italy as captain of the team. On April 21 of that year he was nominated by Ian McGeechan for the tour of the British and Irish Lions to South Africa. He came in all three games for use.

His sporting idols are Lance Armstrong, Muhammad Ali and Martin Johnson.
