Alvarado is located in the central northwestern Minnesota on the east bank of the Snake River, a right tributary of the Red River of the North. The geographical coordinates are 48 ° 11'37 " north latitude and 96 ° 59'50 " west longitude. The site covers an area of 0.57 km ².
