Älvsborg County

Älvsborgs longer was a Swedish province, which was 1664-1998.

Älvsborgs County were originally only the Harden of Vättle and Bollebygd and then to Gothenburg longer belonging Harden of Askims and Säfvedals together with Östra Rambergsvallen. In the other half of the 15th century was Älvsborgs longer to Ale, Kullings, Väne, Bjärke and Flundre as well as some extended Harden. The province borders were later subjected to some changes, but with the entry into force of the Statute of 1680 until 1998, valid border demarcation was complete.

It included, after the reorganization of 1680, the southern and western part of the historic province of Västergötland ( with the exception of Gothenburg ) and the historical province of Dalsland. Residence was Vänersborg. In the province of the cities of Amal in the north, Borås and Alingsås in southwest and Ulricehamn lay in the southeast.

The province was in 1998 with the two provinces Skaraborgs Göteborgs och Bohus Lan Lan and on in the newly formed county of Västra Götaland County.
