Alypius (music writer)

Alypios ( † after 350) was a Greek theorists of the music of ancient Greece.

Alypios created around 350 AD, the present main source of ancient Greek notation ' Eisagoge mousike ' ( Introduction to Music ). The treatise contains the 15 ancient Greek tone rows ( transposition scales) according to the diatonic, chromatic and enharmonic after the scale type with each character for the vocal and instrumental notation.
