Amanda Berenguer

Amanda Berenguer (* June 24, 1921 in Montevideo, Uruguay; † 13 July 2010) was an Uruguayan writer.

Berenguer was married to José Pedro Díaz. With her husband she led from 1945 the publishing house La Galatea. In 1968, she was among the founders of the magazine Maldoror.

Berenguer that the Generación del 45 belonged to and was awarded as a 85- year member of the Academia Nacional de Letras del Uruguay, the term Académica de Honor, published several poetic works. In 1940, she began her work as a writer with A través de los tiempos que llevan a la gran calma. For the El río published in 1952 she was awarded the First Prize of the Ministerio de Instrucción Pública.
