History

Creation and debut album (2008-2012)

Amaranthe was founded in 2008 by Jake E. Lundberg and Olof Mörck as Avalanche. Shortly thereafter, they were joined by Elize Ryd, Andy Solveström and Morten Sørensen Løwe. In the same year, the band released with Johan Andreassen new on E -Bass their first demo Leave Everything Behind, however, had to be renamed because of copyright claims in Amaranthe 2009.

The debut album Amaranthe appeared in 2011 on Spinefarm Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. In the fall of Amaranthe supporting Hammerfall on their European tour. Subsequently, a festival tour in 2012, it was announced who belonged to a gig at the Wacken Open Air, among others.

The Nexus and third studio album (2012 - present)

2012 Amaranthe working with producer Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Ribe to her second studio album, The Nexus, which was released in Germany on March 22, 2013. The video for the same single was released on January 25. In addition, a European tour was announced in March and April 2013, together with Stratovarius as a co -headliner.

On October 18, 2013 it was announced that Andy Solveström Amaranthe has left for personal reasons. As a new singer, the former live member Henrik Englund was taken.

Currently the band is working on their third studio album, which is yet to appear in 2014.

Style

The musical style of Amaranthe is made up of many typical elements of different metal genres that are combined with pop -like choruses. For one, the band components of Melodic Death Metal uses, such as switching between guttural and clear vocals or the connection of hard guitar riffs with keyboard melodies and elements of electronic music, on the other hand used with fast speed and high vocals for the Power Metal shelf components. Another characteristic of the band are the three to be heard in the changing singers. The musical style has been compared to a mix of In Flames, Freedom Call, Children of Bodom, Blood Stain Child and Roxette.
