Ambeon

Ambeon is a music project of the Dutch rock musician and composer Arjen Lucassen, which was originally intended as a purely instrumental album based on elements, chords and melodies existing Ayreon songs. The name Ambeon is composed of ambient and Ayreon.

While working Lucassen received a demo tape of the 14 -year-old Astrid van der Veen (February 26, 1986 in Emmeloord ). He was so overwhelmed that he threw the instrumental concept overboard and she hired as a writer and singer for two Ambeon songs. Our collaboration has been excellent and the result Lucassen has so excited that Astrid van der Veen for fixed Ambeon component was. Recently there were only two of the ten songs instrumental. Whether there will be a second album, however, is not yet clear.

Ayreon fans will recognize the origin immediately in some numbers. Thus, for example, from the basics of "Back on Planet Earth" ( Ayreon album "Actual Fantasy" ) the completely different "Ashes". The music is very synth -heavy, treated with single, low E guitar parts. Lucassen and van der Veen have created a bridge between Ambient, Ethno and progressive rock.
