Amblypharyngodon chulabhornae

Amblypharyngodon is a genus of danios ( Rasborinae ). The freshwater fish are found on the Indian subcontinent, Sri Lanka and the mainland Southeast Asia to the basin of the Mekong River.

Features

Amblypharyngodon species have an elongated, slender body and reach a length of four cm to 20 cm. The fish are silvery colored in most cases, and partially transparent. In some cases, the tail fins are colored, usually in red and yellow colors. The mouth is terminal, the lower jaw engages a Symphysisknopf in a gap of the upper jaw. Barbels are lacking. The pharyngeal teeth are mahlzahnartig and have flat or indented crowns. In a longitudinal row are 42-79 small scales. The lateral line is reduced to four to seven scales. The dorsal fin has nine to ten fin rays, the anal fin seven to eight.
