Amélie Beaury-Saurel

Amélie BEAURY - Saurel (* 1848 in Barcelona, † May 30, 1924 in Paris) was a French painter of Spanish origin.

Life

Your first drawing lessons received Amélie BEAURY - Saurel with a local painter who strongly advised her to continue studying in Paris. Later she studied at the prestigious Académie Julian under Jules -Joseph Lefebvre, Tony Robert -Fleury and Jean Paul Laurens. With her ​​classmates Louise - Catherine Breslau and Marie Bashkirtseff BEAURY - Saurel association soon developed a close friendship. In 1874 BEAURY - Saurel first exhibition in the Salon de Paris took place at which they regularly participated in the follow- up to 1895. During this time she opened her first studio in Paris and earned a reputation as a well-known portrait painter.

In 1895 married Amélie BEAURY - Saurel the painter and founder of the Académie Julian, Rodolphe Julian ( 1839-1907 ). From the marriage, which by all accounts was happy, two children were born. After the death of her husband she bought the Château Julian in Lapalud, Provence -Alpes- Côte d' Azur, where she lived until shortly before her death.
