America Ferrera

America Georgine Ferrera ( born April 18, 1984 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress. Both her parents are from Honduras.

Career

At the age of eight, she started performing in theater productions. Her film debut was in 2002 with the lead role in the comedy Real Women Have Curves, for which she was nominated in 2003 for the Young Artist Award. This was followed by guest appearances in television series such as CSI: Vegas and more film roles in A for 4 and Lords of Dogtown.

From 2006 until 2010, she played the title role in the series Ugly Betty, the U.S. version of Yo soy Betty, la fea, for which she became the first Latina Golden Globe Award won for Best Actor in a TV Series / Comedy.
