American Platinum Eagle

The American Platinum Eagle is an official U.S. platinum coin in the currency of U.S. dollars. The coin is one of the bullion coins.

The first Platinum Eagles were issued in 1997 by the United States Mint. They are available in fine weights of 1/10, ¼, ½ and 1 troy ounce. The U.S. Mint guarantees that the coins contain the stated amount ( in ounces ) of " .9995 fine platinum ."

For coin collectors are specially coins in quality "proof " was published. The peculiarity of this Proof American Platinum Eagles is that they are the only bullion coins of the United States, which have a differently designed back annually.
