Production and representation

2-amino -2-methylpropanol, by reduction of the corresponding nitro compound (which in turn can be obtained from 2-nitropropane and formaldehyde by Henry reaction ) can be obtained.

Properties

2-amino -2- methyl propanol is a little volatile, colorless solid with an amine-like odor, which is readily soluble in water.

Use

2-amino -2-methylpropanol is used in the manufacture of dyestuffs and pharmaceuticals.
