The Ampoi or Ompoi (Hungarian Ompoly ) is a right tributary of the Mureş ( Maros ) in the southwest of the Transylvanian Basin in Romania.

The river is also known under the outdated names Ampeie and Ampee.

River course

The Ampoi rises in the northeast of the Transylvanian Ore Mountains - a mountain range of the Apuseni Mountains -, southwest of Petriceaua Summit, west of Alba County ( ⊙ 46.2036323.09897 1142 m asl. ). In the upper reaches, between the Transylvanian Erzgebirge (in the west ) and the Trascău Mountains (to the east ), the Ampoi flows in the field of small-town Zlatna ( Small Schlatten ) over a length of about 26 km to the southeast.
