AMS Euler

AMS Euler is a script font that was commissioned by the American Mathematical Society ( AMS) in order. It is named after the mathematician Leonhard Euler. It was designed by Hermann Zapf with the support of Donald Knuth.

This font attempted the handwriting of a mathematician on a blackboard replicate, and the writing situation is therefore not inclined. They used the German form of the integral sign. It can be good to use together with other designed by Hermann Zapf fonts such as Palatino, Aldus and Melior, while visually very difficult to Computer Modern, the default TeX font family, fits.

Knuth was when built, co- author of the book Concrete Mathematics, which was dedicated to Leonhard Euler, and so the font was used first for it. Knuth designed with Concrete novel a matching font.

First AMS Euler was implemented in METAFONT, but is now also available in different font systems such as PostScript Type 1 and TrueType.
