Amymone

Amymone (Greek Ἀμυμώνη " impeccable, excellent, excellent" ) in Greek mythology, a Danaide, one of the 50 daughters of Danaus - the King of Libya and later by Argos - and one of the four daughters of Danaus with Europe ( called Automate, Amymone, Agave and Skaia ).

Since there was a great drought in the country - the river gods of Argolis had decided that the country should include Hera, whereupon Poseidon angry all sources had dried up - Danaus sent his daughters out to retune Poseidon by any means. Amymone was raided on this quest by a satyr who tried to rape her. She called Poseidon for help, who threw his trident after the Satyr, but this failed. Still, it was now Poseidon who made the Danaide to his lover. According to Robert Graves, she was glad to be able to fulfill its mandate in such a pleasant way. Because at the point where the trident was stuck in a rock, now sprang from three water jets, the source of the river Lerna.

Amymones son out of this relationship with Poseidon was Nauplios, the famous sailor.

The source was named Amymone. Here and later the birth of the Hydra took place.
