An Area of Darkness

Land of Darkness is a novel by Nobel Prize winner VS Naipaul. He appeared in 1964 in the original English under the title An Area of Darkness.

The novel is incurred during a trip Naipaul by the India of the early 60s. Although Naipaul during this trip, the village of his ancestors finds him the land remains alien. Neither his stay in the south of India still his journey to the north to Kashmir, the land bring him closer. He remains baffled by the attitude of many Indians and expresses pessimistic about the situation at that time in India.
