Ana Popović

Ana Popović ( born May 13, 1976 in Belgrade, Serbia) is a Serbian blues guitarist and singer.

Biography

Ana Popović grew up in a family where music was very important. Her father played guitar and bass and often invited his friends to a jam session. Ana also heard regularly his soul and blues records. At 15, she began to play the guitar. Since Anas progress soon exceeded the knowledge of her father, the family lacked private guitar lessons. In 1999, Ana Popović founded her first band " Hush " and appears regularly at the major European blues festivals. In the same year she signed a contract with the German label Ruf Records. The final breakthrough came in 2001 with the album Hush, which had positive media resonance. In 2003 she was nominated for a WC Handy Award for best new artist. In 2006, she received an invitation to "Legendary Blues Cruise ". She was the first European artist to be invited. The stage she shared now with artists such as Solomon Burke, Walter Trout and Udo Lindenberg.

In 2007, she played at the Sundance Film Festival before the screening of the film What Love Is Since August 2012 she has lived in Memphis ( Tennessee).
