History

Beginnings (1999-2003)

Singer / guitarist Oliver Gottwald and bassist Michael Schmidt went to school together already, still playing at this time but in different bands. When the two groups broke up, it was decided to make music together in the future, bringing with drummer Ingolf Nößner a display the missing third member of the series.

In the following years played Danny Saucedo (the name is derived from the Bud Spencer film " Banana Joe" ) numerous performances in and around Augsburg. Their music was at that time still dominated heavily by synthesizers and electronic sounds. Over time, the band approached more and more to the indie - pop sound for which it is known today - which meant less synths and more guitar, which was never completely dispensed with electronic sounds. The central element of their music from the beginning were the German texts in which singer Oliver Gottwald often (self- ) ironic tones strikes, the drift also like the naivety. Happiness and melancholy are close together in Anajos music.

Still in its first year brought the Augsburger their first demo pop and the world and self-distributed out. This was followed by Born for the City (2000 ), dance dance band (2002) and curtain ( 2003). The song I'll get you out of here in 2003 made ​​it into the rotation and in the editorial charts of the radio station FM4 (ORF / Austria ) and moved the band in a very short time in the interest of the public. With increasing awareness of being an increase in fan base, so that the newcomers more than 50 concerts played in Germany and Austria in 2003.

The albums (since 2004)

Published in 2004 Anajo their debut album Close to me on Tapete Records / Indigo. 2006, the band was commissioned by the Goethe Institute in Russia on tour, also played Anajo sponsored by the Robert Bosch Foundation Concerts in Ukraine.

The group's second album, Hello, who here knows whom?, Published on 9 February 2007 at Tapete Records and gave the band a number of cover stories in popular music magazines such as the intro. Prior to this, it was in September 2006, a preliminary EP titled late summer sun, which contains three new tracks and two live recordings. The first single from the new album called If only you knew, and was published on 19 January 2007. As a guest singer Suzie Kerstgens could be won by the band Clover. The Federal Vision Song Contest 2007 Anajo approached with this song for the state of Bavaria, reaching the 9th place.

From February to May 2007 Anajo played an extensive tour for the new album with around 50 concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Some of the performances were double concertos with clover. In summer 2007, followed by several festival appearances. Them the award of the Bavarian State Government Bavarian Music Lion was awarded as the best Bavarian indie band during Popkomm in Berlin on 20 September 2007.

In November / December 2008, the band interrupted work on their third album for a tour with the "Pop Orchestra " at the University of Augsburg, an ensemble of the University Big Band. A recording of this tour was released in 2009 on DVD from Tapete Records. For 10-year -anniversary appeared on 27 November 2009, the album Anajo and Poporchester. Being single was the song boys do not cry published a reinterpretation of Boys Do not Cry ( The Cure ).

In the fall of 2010, the Goethe- Institut Moscow Anajo invited again on a tour of Russia.

On 11 February 2011 the band released their third studio with three - and fourth album overall, which although yields the known Anajo sound, but, in contrast to its predecessor, largely dispensed with the use of electronic sounds. Parallel to the album release Anajo began in March 2011, a tour of a total of 24 cities in Germany and Austria.
