Anaplasia

The anaplasia means the advancement of higher differentiated cells in less differentiated cells. This leads to a highly shifted core - plasma relation, a Kernhyperchromasie and a Nukleolenvergrößerung.

A anaplasia in tumors leads to the fact that you can not tell which one anaplastic tumor tissue has formed. The tumor cells are completely undifferentiated. Anaplastic carcinomas are in the UICC ( Union International contre le cancer ) Grading divided into Level 4, in brain tumors in grade III. They are highly malignant and often metastasize very early through the blood and lymph. The prognosis is still dependent on the tumor origin. Anaplastic astrocytoma has for example an average 5 years survival rate of approximately 31 %, anaplastic oligodendroglioma (also a brain tumor) with aggressive therapy have a slightly better prognosis.
