Anatoli Firsov

Anatoli Vasilievich Firsov (Russian Анатолий Васильевич Фирсов; born 1 February 1941 in Moscow, † July 24, 2000 ) was a Russian ice hockey player and is a member of the IIHF Hall of Fame.

Career

He began his career in 1958 at HK Spartak Moscow, in 1961 he moved to HK CSKA Moscow. With them he could win the Soviet championship nine times. In a total of 474 games Firsov scored 344 goals. From 1961 to 1974 he played for the Soviet national team and won with them at the Olympic Games in 1964, 1968 and 1972 the gold medal. He was the leading scorer at the tournament in Grenoble, by reaching 12 goals and 4 assists (16 points ) in seven games. He has won a total of 8 times the Hockey World Cup and in 1967, 1968 and 1971, awarded " Best Forward " of the tournament. From 1967 to 1971 he was also elected to the IIHF all-star team.

In 1998 he was honored with induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame. In 1964 he was accepted into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame.

In 2000 he died at the age of 59 of a heart attack.
