Anatoli Starostin

Anatoly Vasilyevich Starostin ( born January 18, 1960 in Stalinabad ) is a former Soviet athlete who was active in the modern pentathlon.

He won at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow in the Modern Pentathlon both in individual competition as the team gold medal, and thus became the youngest Olympic champion in the history of this sport. Twelve years later, at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, ​​he won the United Team of the Commonwealth of Independent States, a silver medal in the team competition. In the individual competition he finished fourth at these games.

Three years after his two -time Olympic victory he also became world champion as well as in the years 1982, 1985 and 1990 Vice World Champion in singles competition.
