Anatoliy Hrytsenko

Anatoly Stepanowytsch Hryzenko (* October 25, 1957 in Cherkassy ) is a Ukrainian military and politicians.

Life

After graduation in 1974 Hryzenko studied at the College of Air Force engineers in Kiev, which he completed in 1979 as a graduate engineer. After graduation, he began a 25-year military career, while the posts at the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces held. In addition Hryzenko lectured at the Military Academy in Kiev.

In 1993 he graduated from the Foreign Language Institute of the U.S. Department of Defense and a year later also Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base, United States. 1995 came to a conclusion at the Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After leaving active duty Hryzenko headed the analytical service of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine. Since 1999 he was president of the Razumkov Center for Political Studies. Hryzenko has a doctorate in engineering ( ktn, kandydat technitschnych nauk ) and a colonel in the Air Force Retired

2004 Hryzenko was in the election staff of presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko worked, but he is said to have support because of his experience in public opinion research at Razumkov center the campaign analytically.

After the election victory of Yushchenko was Anatoly Hryzenko, Minister of Defence of Ukraine in the cabinet of Yulia Tymoshenko and also in that of Yuri Yekhanurov.

Defense policy presented Hryzenko on the approach to the North Atlantic Alliance from and wanted the Ukrainian armed forces reforms bring (first steps: reduction of military service from 18 to 12 months, and reduction in force ), to make them fit for an eventual NATO membership of the country. This policy was largely supported by the incumbent President Yushchenko and Foreign Minister Tarasjuk. Since the appointment of Hryzenko the contacts between Ukraine and NATO increased significantly in intensity.

When, after the 2006 parliamentary elections, a pro-Russian government under Viktor Yanukovych was formed Hryzenko remained While in office since the post of defense minister is awarded according to the Ukrainian Constitution by the President, but he could not continue as before his policy of rapprochement with NATO. After the 2007 parliamentary elections, he was replaced by former Prime Minister Yuri Yekhanurov.

In connection with the separation of the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine Hryzenko was set by the local parliament on a list of undesirable persons in the Crimea. End of March 2014, he announced his candidacy in the presidential election in Ukraine in 2014.

Anatoly Hryzenko is married to journalist Yulia Mostowa.
