Anchariidae

The Anchariidae are a family of fish from the order of catfish -like ( Siluriformes ). They come endemic in fresh waters of Madagascar.

Features

Anchariidae are medium-sized catfish with a maximum of about 30 centimeters in length. From the closely related cross catfish ( Ariidae ) they differ by their fringed barbels and the reduced front Nuchal (neck plate ).

System

The Anchariidae together with the cross catfish the superfamily of Arioidea. The family includes two genera with six species:

  • Gogo brevibarbis
  • Gogo ornatus
