Ancient Diocese of Boulogne

The diocese of Boulogne is a former Roman Catholic diocese in France. It goes back to the existing since the 6th century bishop's seat in Therouanne. This was in 1537 lifted after Charles V Therouanne devastated and uninhabitable. 1567 it came to the founding of a new bishopric in Boulogne -sur -Mer. With the Concordat of 1801, the diocese was dissolved Boulogne; the diocese went on in the diocese of Arras. The diocese belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Reims.
