Ancient Diocese of Mâcon

The Diocese of Mâcon (Latin: Dioecesis Matisconensis ) was located in France Roman Catholic diocese based in Macon.

History

The Diocese of Mâcon was built in the 6th century. First bishop was Placide.

On November 29, 1801, Diocese of Mâcon was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was the Archdiocese of Lyon and the Bishopric of Autun affiliated.

The Diocese of Mâcon was the Archdiocese of Lyon is a suffragan. In 1765 the Diocese of Mâcon comprised 200 parishes.
