Ancient Domains of Mystery

Ancient Domains of Mystery ( ADOM short ) is an English Rogue -like computer game from Germany.

The game consists only of colored ASCII characters. The dungeons are randomly generated when you first walk in and do not change thereafter. As is typical for rogue -like games, the player can start the game set the attributes of his hero ( gender, race and class) that develop in the course of the game. In contrast to most rogue -like games ADOM has a much larger story share. So the player gets frequent quests that he can do and what drive the story forward.

The aim is to save the world from the forces of Chaos that invade through the chaos gates. ADOM keeps different ends ready for the player.

ADOM has been completely programmed by Thomas Biskup from Gelsenkirchen since 1994 in C. The game is freeware. Meanwhile, the long-awaited successor JADE (Java -based Ancient Domains Engine, a Java implementation ) was published.
