Anders Arborelius

Lars Anders Arborelius OCD (* September 24 1949 in Sorengo, Switzerland ) is a Swedish religious clergyman and Roman Catholic Bishop of Stockholm.

Life

Arborelius, came from a Swedish family, and born during a trip to his family in Switzerland, grew up in southern Sweden, Lund and converted at the age of 20 years to the Catholic confession. When he was 22 years old, he entered the Carmelite Monastery of Norraby in Tågarp, near Landskrona. He studied philosophy in Bruges and Rome. Bishop Hubertus Brandenburg donated to him on September 8, 1979 in Malmo ordination.

On 17 November 1998 Arborelius was named the first Swedish -born bishop of the Catholic diocese of Stockholm. He received his episcopal consecration on 29 December 1998 his predecessor Hubert Brandenburg; Co-consecrators were William Kenney CP, Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham, and Alfons Nossol, Bishop of Opole.
