Anders Bratholm

Unlike Bratholm ( born January 7, 1920 in Oslo, † July 8, 2010 ) was a Norwegian lawyer and university professor.

Biography

After school he studied law and was laid in 1948, the Legal State Exam. Already during his studies he was 1945-1947 editor of the daily newspaper in Lillehammer Dagningen.

Bratholm was appointed in 1960 professor at the Department of Law of the University of Oslo, where he worked as a high school teacher until his retirement in 1990. In addition, he was Chairman of the Commission of Criminal Law and Director of the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice. He was also the author of several legal textbooks as well as co -chair of the University Press and the Norwegian Helsinki Committee of the International Club.

The general public Bratholm became known in the early 1980s, when he was first chairman of the commission investigating the 1980 Reitgjerdet Sykehus ( Reitgjerdet Hospital ) and then in 1981 the Committee of Inquiry violence to the police.

Even after his retirement, he was still active as an author of jurisprudential and publications between 1991 and 1998, together with Magnus Matningsdal editor of a three-volume commentary on the Norwegian criminal law.

In 1963 he became a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science (Det Norske Videnskaps - Akademi ). For his services he was awarded the Olav's Medal ( Knight, First Class ).

In addition in 1986 was the prize for freedom of speech ( Fritt Ord honnørpris ) and in 1990 the price of humanism humanist and ethical Union was awarded.
