Anders Rydberg

Anders Rydberg ( born March 3 1903 in Gothenburg, † October 26, 1989 ) was a Swedish football goalkeeper.

Career

Rydberg played from 1923 at IFK Gothenburg. A year later, the Allsvenskan was founded, he was able to qualify the club for the new Elite series. As a goalkeeper, he played for several years with IFK to the Swedish championship title. In the seasons 1924/25, 1926/27 and 1929/30, but only the second place was achieved. Only in the season 1934/35 achieved the triumph and the club took 17 years after the last title for the fourth time in club history the von Rosen's Cup. Rydberg was doing to the eleven players with most missions during the season and was therefore awarded the Swedish champion. Until 1937, he was still standing between the posts for IFK Gothenburg and ended after 284 games in the Swedish Elite series his career. He is in the list of players with the most consecutive games in the Swedish House of Lords second place behind Sven Jonasson, who has denied 1927-1943 332 consecutive matches in Allsvenskan.

Rydberg was also the Swedish national team and played for the national selection a total of 30 games. He debuted on June 26, 1927 when a 5-3 victory over the Norwegian national team in the National Jersey. Initially, however, he could not prevail against Sigge Lindberg Helsingborgs IF and came irregularly to 1930 are used.
