The Andrau Airpark was a public airport located in the Alief neighborhood of Houston, in the U.S. state of Texas. The airport is located southwest of the intersection of Old Westheimer Road and Richmond Avenue. The airport has been closed since 1998 and the site is now built with a residential area and golf course.

History

When the airport into operation, is no longer determine exactly. He probably was built after the Second World War on a piece of empty prairie. The oldest known photograph of the area dates back to 1953.

The airport served general aviation for the western part of Houston. However, it is known that a Douglas DC- 3 and a Douglas A- 26C Invader landed here. The airport had two runways, the longest of which approx 1,450 m was long. In addition, a lake for landings of seaplanes was on the eastern edge of the site is available.

The airport was purchased on 23 December 1998 from the Houston Grundstückshandel Camden for 53 million U.S. dollars by the operator Andrau Airpark, Inc., and then closed. Then the airport was demolished quickly and the residential area and the golf course were built.
