André Jousseaume

André Jousseaume ( born July 27, 1894 in Yvré -l'Évêque, Sarthe, † May 26, 1960 in Chantilly) was a French dressage rider and officer. He took part in five Olympics and also won many medals.

His first Olympic participation was in 1932 in Los Angeles. There he won on Sorelta in the team competition and placed in the individual competition in fifth place. 1936 in Berlin, he was to Favorite Second with the team and fifth turn as a single rider. The most successful Jousseaume cut off at the Summer Olympic Games in London in 1948 when he won on Harpagon gold with the team and individual silver. He also dabbled in eventing, but was disqualified.

Again on Harpagon he won in 1952 in Helsinki the bronze medal in the individual competition and reached the fourth place in the team. At the age of 61 years he took in 1956 at the Olympic equestrian competitions in Stockholm part ( due to strict quarantine regulations they could not be held in Melbourne); the end of his athletic career, he scored the places 5 (single ) and 6 ( team).
