André Lafosse

André Lafosse (* 1890 in Marly- le- Roi, † 1975) was a French trombone player, music teacher and composer.

Lafosse expanded the repertoire for trombone through music education works, original compositions and arrangements for the instrument. As one of the first musicians he played in 1938 music of the Renaissance time on the bass trumpet on record. After the Second World War, he played jazz orchestra Boeuf sur le toit with Django Reinhardt, with whom he recorded in 1947 and recordings.

1948 Lafosse successor of Henri Couillaud as professor of trombone at the Conservatoire de Paris. He held the position until 1960. Among his pupils were trombonists such as Vinko Globokar, Marc Steckar and Norman J. Hunt. He was also principal trombonist at the Paris Opera and at the Concerts Lamoureux. Lafosse published several trombone textbooks. His brother Marcel LaFosse played the trumpet with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
