André Philip

André Philip ( born June 28, 1902 in Pont -Saint -Esprit ( Gard); † July 5, 1970 in Paris) was a French socialist and politician.

He designed as associate of Charles de Gaulle in 1943 for the French government in exile, a plan that was drafted with the assistance of Jean Monnet and René Mayer. This plan was intended for a concept of Western European integration. There should inter alia include a community of heavy industry. At this farsighted plan was before all Germany, where it was to play a special role. This was the basis for the Coal and Steel Community, whose contract was signed on 18 April 1951, ie the European Community for Coal and Steel Community (ECSC ), dated May 9, 1950 and from July 25, 1952 in force.
