André Schembri
André Schembri ( born May 27, 1986 in Pietà ) is a Maltese footballer on the position of a striker.
Career
Schembri began his career at the Hibernians Paola and FC Marsaxlokk, with whom he was 2007 champion Maltese. For the 2007/08 season he was loaned to Eintracht Braunschweig for their first team. Overall, he played 29 times in the Regionalliga Nord, scoring nine goals and three assists gave. He was the second Maltese by Michael Mifsud in the highest German amateur league. From the club Schembri was suspended before the last game of the season 2007/ 08, since he wanted to participate in a friendly game of Maltese national, rather than on the important game to qualify for the third division.
For the season 2008/ 09 he moved, initially on loan for one year, for the third division FC Carl Zeiss Jena. For the FC Carl Zeiss Jena, he scored two goals in the DFB Cup against 1 FC Kaiserslautern and FC Schalke 04 During this time he was an attacking midfielder for use.
For the 2009/10 season Schembri moved to SK Austria Kärnten, for which he completed 13 league games, scoring one goal and made two assists. End of January 2010, he got together with his Austria Carinthia teammate Martin Živný a release for a change of club. Soon after, he graduated again with Živný a trial with Hungarian first division club Ferencvaros Budapest and signed there subsequently a contract. In the 2010/11 season Schembri scored 16 goals this season and was able to draw international attention.
For the 2011/12 season moved Andre Schembri for Europa League qualifiers Olympiakos Volos Greece. For Volos Schembri in four qualifying games scoring one goal and also gave a presentation. Since Volos descent into fourth league in connection due to the suspicion of manipulation, ended the Treaty of Schembri, who was valid only for the first league.
In September 2011, Schembri then moved to Panionios Athens.
National
For the Maltese national Schembri has played 39 matches and scored three goals. He scored two of his three matches in the European Championship qualifier in the 2-1 win against Hungary on 14 October 2006. Moreover, he brought in the match against Turkey on 8 November 2007 with his goal Malta for two minutes with a 2-1 lead, the game ultimately ended 2:2.
