André Thomkins

André Thomkins ( born August 11, 1930 in Lucerne, † November 8, 1985 in West Berlin) was a Swiss painter and poet. He lived from 1952 in Germany, and taught from 1971 to 1973 as a professor at the Dusseldorf Art Academy.

Thomkins painted and drew ironic- fantastic -representational images that contributed onomatopoeic title, and was influenced by Surrealism and Dadaism. Together with Dieter Roth and Daniel Spoerri, he produced works of Eat Art at ( pasta). He was the author of palindromes.

The estate of André Thomkins is the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Vaduz, supervised. The gallery Hauser & Wirth sold works by this artist.

His German wife Eva Thomkins (b. Quick ) was also a visual artist and art educator and lecturer. André and Eva Thomkins are buried at the cemetery in Siepen food. The grave stone adorns a palindrome of the artist.

In Cologne there is named after him urban André- Thomkins school.

From October 19 2013 to 5 January 2014, the exhibition of works by Eternal Network Thomkins took place at the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf.
