André Zeller

André Zeller ( born January 1, 1898 in Besançon, † September 18, 1979 in Paris) was a French Army general and coup leader during the Algerian war.

Zellers supreme command was the post of Chief of Staff of the Army. He was regarded as a logistics specialist. Zeller was forced into retirement because of his rejection of the policies of Charles de Gaulle, who was dismissed in Algeria 's independence. He was on 24 April 1961 three generals who carried out a military coup in Algiers. The coup collapsed quickly and Zeller set two days later. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Zeller was released in 1968.
