Andrea Cagnetti – Akelo

Andrea Cagnetti, artist name Akelo ( born March 16, 1967 in Corchiano), is an Italian goldsmith, designer and sculptor. He also deals with ancient metalworking techniques.

Biography

After completing a science high school, he moved to Rome for a few years and worked as a commercial artist. At the same time, he deepened his knowledge in the study of writings and documents about the ancient goldsmith's art, as well as for metallurgy and alchemy. In addition to theoretical training he joined a broad practical experience in the Materialexperimentierung and process engineering. Cagnetti devoted himself entirely to the goldsmith's work and that of the sculptor for sculptures made ​​of gold, bronze and iron, from now on under the stage name Akelo ( from the Greek " Achelous ", the Greek god of water ).

Since 2010 Cagnetti realized for the loaned by the Vatican Robert Bresson Prize, the bronze work titled "Hope", which, during the Film Festival in Venice, is awarded each year. In the 2010s some of his works have been acquired by museums and private collections. Andrea Cagnetti lives and works in Corchiano, where he wrote among other things, scientific articles on the techniques of ancient gold jewelery.
