Andreas Däscher

Andreas Däscher ( born June 9, 1927 in Clavadel, Davos ) is a retired Swiss ski jumper.

Däscher began in 1943 with the ski jumping. At the age of 20 years, he first participated at the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz. He reached the 17th place in jumping on the normal hill. Four years later he reached at the Olympic Winter Games 1952 in Oslo on points with the Yugoslavs Janez Polda the 16th Place. Shortly before the Games Däscher was first attempted in the Four Hills Tournament and reached in Innsbruck the 21th Place. On 8 January 1955 he was in Bischofshofen at the end of the 13th at the Olympic Winter Games in 1956 and the related Nordic World Ski Championships in Cortina d' Ampezzo Däscher could jump into the top ten for the first time and reached the 6th place. On December 29, 1956, he achieved his best individual result with the 5th place in Oberstdorf. At the Four Hills Tournament 1959/60 Däscher occurred again in Oberstdorf and Innsbruck and ended the competition on the 14th and 11th place. Its active ski jumping career, he ended with the start of the Olympic Winter Games in 1960 in Squaw Valley. There he reached on the normal hill on the 20th Place.

Däscher was nine times Swiss champion during his career.

Däscher is also known by the development of so-called Däscher technique. In the 1950s he developed the so-called Kongsberg technology further to the effect that the arms are applied instead of stretched forward, backwards towards the legs to the body. This technique was the standard in ski jumping to the development of the V- style through January Boklöv 1985.

Andreas Däscher is the son of Hans Däscher, a Wegmacher in Davos, and the Italian Ursina Däscher, born Nerina Mottolini. Professional Däscher years was self-employed plumbing and heating engineer in miles.
