Andrés Casillas de Alba

Andrés Casillas de Alba ( born 1934 in Mexico City) is a Mexican architect.

Biography

Casillas studied from 1952 to 1955 at the Escuela de Arquitectura de Guadalajara and subsequent to 1956 at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM) in Mexico City. A year later, he went for further studies until 1961 to Ulm at the College of Design. During this time he worked in 1958 also in urban planning projects for the Iranian city of Isfahan and graduated in 1959 in the architectural firm Mangiarotti e Morassutti in Milan an internship.

In Mexico he worked from 1962 to 1963 when Augusto H. Álvarez and then from 1964 to 1968 and at Luis Barragan, from 1969 at its own. His first building in Mexico originated in the days when he still worked at Alvarez, the Galería de Arte Mexicano.

He belongs to the Sistema Nacional de 1994 Creadores de Arte ( SNCA ) and has received numerous awards for his designs, including 1994 with the annual prize of the Architecten Jalisco.
