Andrew Birkin

Andrew Birkin ( born December 9, 1945 in London ) is a British screenwriter and director.

Life

Andrew Birkin was one of the screenwriters of The Name of the Rose and Luc Besson Joan of Arc. He also led in 1992 directed and wrote the screenplay of salt on our skin. In 1993 he received the award for Best Director for the film The Cement Garden with his niece Charlotte Gainsbourg in one of the main roles at the Berlin Film Festival. In 2005, he acted as co - writer and producer of Perfume - The Story of a Murderer.

His debut as a director, he was in 1981 with the short film Sredni Vashtar. For this he received an Academy Award nomination, further, he was awarded at the BAFTA Awards in the category Best Short Film with a price.

Birkin is the brother of actress Jane Birkin.
