Andrew J. Weaver

Andrew J. Weaver ( b. 1961 ) is a Canadian climatologist, professor at the University of Victoria and a member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.

Weaver is recognized as an expert on climate models internationally and is the author or co- author of more than 200 articles in scientific journals. He is one of the lead authors of the Second, the Third, Fourth and Fifth Assessment Report of the IPCC.

Weaver is a member of the Order of British Columbia and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the American Meteorological Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He holds a Ph.D. the University of British Columbia, a CASM of Cambridge University and a B.Sc. from the University of Victoria.

Shortly after the hacking incident on climate research center of the University of East Anglia in 2009 it was announced that there had been attempts to break into Weaver's office, where a stolen computer in such an event and documents were messed up. Weaver also reported that people had tried to intimidate technician of data to come out of his office. This aroused fears that climate change deniers deliberately tried to discredit climate research ahead of time upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

In April 2010, Andrew Weaver sued the conservative Canadian newspaper National Post for libel because he saw defamed by their reporting is.

Since 2013, Weaver deputy in the Chamber of Deputies of British Columbia. In the provincial elections in May he won his constituency as a candidate of the Green Party of British Columbia. So Andrew J. Weaver is the first representative of the Green Party in a Legislative Assembly of a Canadian province or territory
