Andrew Lauterstein

Andrew Lauterstein ( May 22nd, 1987 in Melbourne) is an Australian swimmer.

He grew up in Black Rock, Victoria and has an older brother and a younger sister. Currently he lives and trains under his Trainier Glenn Baker in Gold Coast.

Lauterstein scored his first international success when he was in Melbourne took part in the heats of the 4 × 100 meter medley relay during the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and thus had a small share of first place in the Australian medley relay. In the same year he reached with the Australian medley relay bronze medal at the Pan Pacific Championships in 2006 in Victoria, Canada. A year later he won at the World Swimming Championships in 2007 in Melbourne with the 4 × 100 meter medley relay in the final gold medal. At the Australian Championships in 2008 in Sydney, he won first place on the 100m butterfly and was second on the 50m butterfly. About 100 m freestyle, he scored third place.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he participated in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, the 4 x 100m medley relay and the race and the 100m butterfly in part. In the finals of the freestyle relay, he swam the second round and eventually won the bronze medal with the team. About 100 m butterfly, he swam as the third fastest swimmer of the semifinals personal best and set a new Australian record. In the final, he won the bronze medal with a time of 51.12 seconds. On the last day of swimming competitions he finally won the 4 x 100m medley relay silver medal, behind the Americans.
