Andrew Powell

Andrew Powell ( born April 18, 1949 in London ) is a British musician, producer and composer.

Curriculum vitae

Andrew Powell is a child of Welsh parents. He learned to play the piano and later at King's College School in Wimbledon violin, viola and percussion. Four years He then studied in Darmstadt under Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Ligeti before he took his degree in music at King's College, Cambridge. He also joined the band intermodulation and Henry Cow.

Career

Andrew Powell's career began as a soloist at the Proms. Later, he worked with various orchestras (including the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra ). He arranged rock albums for Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Cliff Richard, John Miles, Al Stewart, Mick Fleetwood, Chris Rea, Il Divo and many others. Since the first album by The Alan Parsons Project ( Tales of Mystery and Imagination ), in which he served as co- composer, arranger and conductor, he has been involved in almost all the band's albums. He also published an album with orchestral versions of The - Alan - Parsons - Project - pieces. Andrew Powell also produced Kate Bush's first two albums ( The Kick Inside and Lionheart ) and worked with Chris de Burgh, Kansas, Elaine Paige, David Pack, Elliott and Tim Rice. He wrote the soundtracks to the films Ladyhawke, Rocket Gibraltar and others.
