Andrew Ranken

Andrew Ranken ( born November 13, 1953 in London ) is an English drummer. He became famous for his involvement in the Anglo- Irish folk - punk band The Pogues.

Career

Andrew began playing drums at the age of 14 years. During his college years he played in a band called Lola Cobra and spent much time in Ronnie Scott's ' Jazz Club. As our group dispersed, Andrew sold his drums to fund a pickup tour through Europe. After the tour, he joined the 13 -strong pub rock group The Stickers and took over the vocals.

Andrews neighbors in King 's Cross, Shane MacGowan and Jem Finer asked him shortly afterwards whether he would be interested in the band they were compiling at the moment to take over the drums. But because of his obligations as a singer with the band The surgery and his studies, this was no time. A short time later - in March 1983 - he thought better of it then but differently and was a permanent member of Pogue Mahone. This also explains the reason why vines was not on the cover photo of Red Roses for Me. The cover was designed before his commitment.

The song Four O'Clock in the Morning ( Pogue Mahone ) was written by drummer Andrew Ranken and treated as before, My Baby 's Gone ( Waiting for Herb), the death of his wife Deborah Korner. This died shortly before the recording sessions for Waiting for Herb. He worked on all recordings until the dissolution in 1996. After that he joined the band " Metropolian Waterboard " and " Kipper ", which were led by actor Paul Bradler ( EastEnders ). Tendrils plays today since the reunion concerts in 2001 again with the Pogues.

Today tendrils lives in Stoke Newington in London with his family. He has two children, Nell and Daniel. Next he sings in " Andrew Ranken and Mysterious Wheels" and plays drums for the " recidivists ".
